The Findings of the "Allstate's America's Best Drivers Report" Study

Yesterday; Allstate Insurance Company published its findings from the 9th annual "Allstate America's Best Drivers Report". This study ranked America's 200 largest cities by Allstate claims data for car collision frequencies. It's purpose was to identify which U.S. cities have the safest and least safest drivers. For the third year in a row, Fort Collins, Colorado was ranked the safest city to drive in, while our beautiful city of Baltimore ranked 193 out of 200.

The report revealed that the average driver in Baltimore is likely to have a car accident every 5.4 years, nearly 86% higher than the average of 1 accident every 10 years. The study also found that rate of fatal car crashes has increased for the first time since 2005. Allstate also reported that while fatalities have increased, around 70% of vehicle involved in claims are able to still be driven, a result of low speed, "stop and go" collisions.

We would like to take this time to remind our clients of a few safe driving tips:
  •  Leave early to allow you plenty of time to get to where you're going
  • Pay attention to traffic reports on the radio or news
  • No texting or handheld use of electronics while driving
  • Stay alert
  • Keep an eye on the speed limit
  • Maintain a reasonable distance between you and the car infront of you.
